Please join us for an in-depth look at the benefits and value of having a CERTIFIED Flatwork crew for your company.  Michael Morrison with ACI International will present on the New to ARIZONA Chapter Flatwork Associate exam that is Performance Based and does NOT include a written exam.  This will be an opportunity for the contractors to hear more about how their crews can be certified who may not have the work hours, have difficulty taking written exams or who have language barriers that can and do interfere with understanding the written exam format.  This allows them to perform the work as directed and be graded on actual performance of the standards and methods of the trade/craft.  Having Certified personnel on many projects is required and up until now, it has been a challenge and expense to get some of your best crew members certified!

WHERE IS ACI FLATWORK CERTIFICATION REQUIRED?

When construction projects reference ACI Specifications for Concrete Construction (ACI 301) as part of their construction documents, ACI Flatwork Finisher or Advanced Concrete Flatwork Finisher certification becomes required.

    According to ACI 301-20:

5.3.4.1. Finisher qualifications - Unless otherwise specified, at least one finisher or finishing supervisor shall be a certified ACI Flatwork Finisher or Advanced Concrete Flatwork Finisher.

Come hear how we can help and work together to make this less difficult!  Below are the finisher programs offered by ACI.

Concrete Flatwork Associate (formerly Concrete Flatwork Technician) is a person who has demonstrated knowledge (via a written examination) on proper procedures to place, consolidate, finish, edge, joint, cure and protect concrete flatwork.

An Advanced Concrete Flatwork Finisher(formerly Concrete Flatwork Finisher and Technician) is a craftsman who has demonstrated the knowledge AND skills and/or experience necessary to place, consolidate, finish, edge, joint, cure and protect concrete flatwork.

Concrete Flatwork Finisher (formerly Concrete Flatwork Tradesman) is a craftsman who has demonstrated the skills(via a hands-on performance exam) AND experience necessary to place, consolidate, finish, edge, joint, cure and protect concrete flatwork.

Certification is valid for a period of five years from the date of successfully completing all requirements.

*Finishing experience includes concrete placement, consolidation, jointing, curing and protection, finishing, form setting, prep work, rubbing, patching, and saw cutting. Verification of the work experience by the candidate's employer(s) is required.

**During the performance examination, each examinee must place, consolidate, finish, edge, joint, begin curing, and provide initial protection for a concrete slab. The examiner will observe and evaluate the techniques used and record passing or failing grades on the various individual procedures.
